The Turkish fuel retailer OPET opens first environment-friendly service station fully equipped with Stage I and Stage II vapour recovery systems in Istanbul. The service station situated at Maslak, Istanbul, and designed by Opet uses state-of-the-art products, technology and incorporates the most advanced HSSE requirements.
The initial goal was to minimize the potential effects of petroleum products as well as to provide protective procedures for the environment. OPET signed up specialized contractors, to utilize the newest globally developed ideas for achieving environmental expectations along with providing the best in cutting edge technologies – both for products and services.
The contender of the largest service station in Turkey with the one and only biggest canopy, the “TSK Mehmetçik Foundation Maslak Station” was constructed in 90 days. The station is situated on an area of 10.500 square meters with 20 petroleum pumps, 5 of which are LPG. It disposes of 170 hoses thus enabling 50 vehicles to fuel at the same time. In coordination with the environment-friendly project design, 30% of the service station has been envisioned as greenbelt by leading landscape architects. The station uses 8 double-walled tanks to fully secure liquid fuel. Double-walled piping has also been incorporated to maximize safety against leaks.
